LUDHIANA: Ex-Armyman from Badewal Road, Amarjit Singh Bhatt, 45, has won a photography contest organized by the World Bank themed "gender equality". Bhatt, who has been pursuing photography as his hobby for the past 15 years, submitted the winning photo with a caption "managing manually manly". The click beautifully depicted the theme where one Sarabjit Kaur is seen working near the water pump and a male farmer in the background, who is working on his fields.

Bhatt clicked the photograph in the fields of Baddowal village of Hoshiarpur. He was a lone participant from Punjab and submitted his entry in January, but had never expected that his click would be adjudged the best among 48 finalists from across the country.
"The contest includes various other schemes being run by the World Bank for rural development. We were required to submit entries under water supply and sanitation scheme. I clicked my photograph at the right moment. Under the World Bank initiative, many women have been appointed as pump operators, like the one seen in my photograph," he said. A book by Bhatt was published on his name wherein he has compiled all his photographs of nature and flowers. Now, he is busy working on his next project - "culture of Punjab".
